Welcome to this week’s version of WOW weekly. In this edition, I will bring you all of my favourite picks of the week as well as my round-up design and development resources. This week we will be discussing all things Linux with news on Valve announcing the future release of SteamOS.
The guys over at Steam have been busy over the last year first bringing us Steam for Linux. Now they have announced that they are going to release SteamOS. This aims to bring your games to your living room TV. All the current features plus sharing on your home network and easier switching of users. All of your game data gets saved in the cloud so that it can be run on any machine. Steam will be made free to download and install on your computer. Steam is also planning to release its own Steam Machines. There is certainly going to be exciting times for gamers and Linux enthusiasts alike. Steam has also announced that they are going to bring out a Steam Controller to work with all the games. Playing Football Manager with a controller would feel strange!
Gnome 3.10 has been released this week bringing lots of UI changes. These include a new system menu that groups Bluetooth, WiFi and volume applets together to save space. Gnome has introduced its own software store where you can search, install and remove apps. Another new app in this release is Maps which uses OpenStreetMap to find, favourite and see your current locations.
