WOW Weekly – TalkTalk Trouble, Ubuntu Turns 11

Welcome to WOW Weekly.TalkTalk made big news last week when a massive cyber attack compromised the details of all it’s customers. TalkTalk have since announced the attack wasn’t as bad as first feared but will this be enough for the customers that want out! From Warty Warthog to Wily Werewolf Ubuntu is 11 years old! First released in 2004 the open source Linux distribution has gracefully transformed into the modern operating system we see today.

WOW Weekly – Are LogMeIn at it Again, Surely Not?

Welcome to this week’s edition of WOW weekly, featuring LogMeIn, Apple, the number 7 and a Microsoft trade-in! This particular edition should be renamed to fortnightly as last week I devoted time to having a good clear out (home wise) and spending time with my children during the first week of their school holidays. I also managed to upgrade to El Capitan which was well worth the upgrade! Sadly I’ve given up trying to install Windows 10 on my aging 5-year-old laptop.

Arxan and iThreat Cyber Group have published The Application Security report detailing how the illegal reproduction and distribution of copyrighted material (piracy) on the web is growing rapidly. Over 1000 sites have been analyzed over the past 3.5 years are part of the dark web which is not indexed by standard search engines. 50 are in the business of distributing pirated releases.

WOW Weekly – Alphabet Becomes Proud Parent to Google

Welcome to WOW Weekly. It’s been another busy week in tech with Google finally becoming part of Alphabet, Apple releasing El Capitan for the Mac and another minor update for iOS 9, a XOR Trojan threatens Linux servers and a popular ad blocker is sold to a mystery buyer.
