Published on May 11, 2019 by Tracy Ridge in [Marketing](https://worldoweb.co.uk/category/category:Marketing)

Every website owner or [business](https://www.worldoweb.co.uk/2019/how-to-take-your-business-to-the-next-level) knows that getting to the top of Google search is no easy feat. Do you know how **long it actually takes to rank in Google?** There are many factors to consider, such as website authority and competition, which means there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

However, thanks to a **study carried out by** [**Ahrefs**](https://ahrefs.com/), we were able to get a more concrete answer than “it depends”.

The study first looked at the **age of the top-ranking pages** by taking 2 million random keywords and pulling data on the Top 10 ranking pages for each of them. As it turned out, the average Top 10 ranking page is **2+ years old.** Those that rank at number one position is almost **3 years old** on average.

So what does that tell us about how long it takes to rank in Google? Check out the **infographic** below by [The Website Group](https://thewebsitegroup.co.uk/infographics/how-long-to-rank-google/) to find out!
